5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed... also I have some hints to help out.,

This review is from: Everlast Mixed Martial Arts Grappling Gloves (Sports)

Just got my gloves and I can say that for the price they are worth it. I will get all the use out of these as I can and need. I see no problem using them for just about everything when it comes to training, I would even use these in a cage or ring. There easy to put on, stay in place and very versital. Good for someone who needs a multi task glove and doesn't have a lot to spend or just needs an extra pair. I would recommend them to someone that is wondering about buying some.

Also I have heard a few complaints about these gloves so let me give you a few tips. The main thing you have to remember about any glove is it takes a little time to get use to them, heres how most problems are easy to deal with. Inbetween your fingers I can see how they can be harsh, just a little athletic tape and maybe gauze till you break them in.Also the lack of wrist padding and support, just get a set of hand wraps. Novice ones can support the palm and wrist if wrapped good. Pro ones can cover most of the hand and take care of the fingerwebbing and help with support. Just use both or too pairs of one kind. More wraps means you can also cover more of the knuckles as well so if you are a beginner try for some heavy padded and extra protective gloves, then try these out. If you know what your doing then you don't have to read this.

I'm a girly girl keep my nails painted like my hands looking pretty...these gloves provide excellent hand protection, and I haven't even broken a nail. The gloves also provide great protection of the wrist area.

I hit the bag mostly, spar occasionally. When first looking at the many half-finger gloves available, I found three VERY different pictures of this specific model/item on Amazon - depending on how I accessed the page. However, everything else on the page was identical, name of item, price, reviews, etc. Odd I thought. For various reasons, the gloves in two of the pictures appeared crappy to me, crappy and DIFFERENT. Bulky form, cheap white cotton reinforcement, stuff like that. But one picture looked very good. All black, compact with proper padding, preformed into a semi-fist shape, some thumb padding but not sticking out like a sore... uh, thumb. They looked like what I wanted based on intended use and previous experience with other gloves. (BTW, the picture of the glove I liked are NOT the ones pictured for this item as of today.)

And at the time, the price was right. (Since increased by 4 bucks and then came down 2 bucks.) So I ordered them on 5/24/11 from Rose Sports through Amazon with free shipping on an order over $25, hoping to get the ones I wanted. And I did. These gloves are, in fact, exactly what I wanted, for the reasons I said before, and because they're made tough, made to last, support my wrist well - but not as good as a wrap, and fit my hands perfectly after breaking them in (size l/xl, palm size big, 4 3/4" x 4 1/2"). No wraps, too tight for wraps. They feel like they're part of my hand. That's what I wanted. They just feel right. Also, with the open palm, they don't get all wet with sweat. And so they don't stink later. The package (nice, zippered mesh, will keep both gloves in your possession, if you use it) says they're treated with something called "Ever Fresh." Anyway, they don't stink. That alone is worth the purchase. Also, all black, no white trim stuff or gaudy logos, i.e., they look good. Used them maybe ten times so far. No stink.

The end of the glove fingers do not quite cover my second knuckle when hitting with a fist. I'm fine with that. Reminds me to hit square, not at an angle with my second knuckle leading, and that's good IMO. If I do hit second knuckle first, it's not bad, just reminds me not to do it again real soon. True bag-gloves cover the second knuckle, both the ones with separate fingers or a single big pad, BUT then the ends stick out past your second knuckles like flaps. If you use them in the ring, you could scrape or poke your opponent, like in the eye... Might start a real fight. Not always a good thing. These gloves don't do that.

So, I highly recommend these gloves, with the caveat, that they send you the same ones they sent me - and if Amazon comes up with a stable price. (They are made in China, so maybe the problem is in the changing value of the US dollar vs. the Chinese yuan...

One more thing. ALL of these gloves, as tight and form-fitting as they are, would be easier to pull off if manufacturers added a couple small but strong cord loops at the end of the two middle fingers on the PALM side. Many half-finger motorcycle gloves have these unobtrusive loops to help pull the gloves off quickly. If you can't picture them in your mind, check them out at the motorcycle glove store. I sewed loops on my gloves using about an inch and a half parachute cord for each loop. Blackened with permanent marker. They work well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice gloves for heavy bags training,

Very nice protection for heavy bags training. Nice grip also. There is one thing I have to say though - these gloves tend to run small, I mean, my hands are medium amongst Americans and I had to squeeze them into these gloves every time. I don't know what would happen to those who have bigger hands.

I own one pair of gloves of 12 OZ, i have to say that this gloves are more than great, and i'm not a fan, why i say this:

1) Best gloves this price (less than 35 bucks)
2) The material is very good, they will last very long
3) The color is durable, it doesn't scratch or get's decolored
4) They are very confortable, and they have swet technology (it means that even if you swet, they wont smell or stink)
5) Your hand is very protected (the fingers and the front part of the hand)

I was undecided about buying the 12 OZ, the 14 OZ or the 16 OZ, I went for the 12 Oz because for heavy bag practicing they are the best, Why?

Because your hands like the heavy bag are very harsh, they need better contact, if you have big gloves (16 OZ) there's a lot of space in the glove, and your fingers no matter if you have handwraps, are able to move inside, and that might cause you a broken finger or to get hurt) in the other. so the 12 OZ are PERFECT FOR HEAVY BAG.

In the other hand, if you want good gloves for sparring, then you need to buy the 14 OZ or even better 16 OZ gloves, because they will make you work more your hands and you'll gain speed, also no one will practice with you with smaller gloves, because the impact of smaller gloves is stronger as they have less material your hand impact will be more direct.

For heavy bag if you buy the 12 OZ gloves, depending on your hand strenght you probably won't need handwraps, because the gloves are very confortable as i mentioned before, and they will fit your hands perfectly.

HOW TO CHOSE A SIZE? i had trouble choosing the right size, because almost no one published a review about how to pick the right size so that's the first reazon why i wrote this.

1) If you are less than 5'4 Height go for the 12 to 10 OZ gloves for heavy bag, and for sparring go for the 14 OZ.
2) If you are less than 5'9 Height, but 5'5 or more, go for the 12 Oz for heavy bag and the 16 Oz for sparring.
3) If you are more than 5'9 Height for heavy bag use the 12 or the 14 Oz gloves depending ond how big or not are your hands, and for sparring the 16 Oz.

AGAINST, (this are excellent gloves to start boxing or having boxing initial classes, in case you have some time practicing you might want to pick more prof. gloves).

Enjoy them!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gloves make me feel like Iron Man!,

This review is from: Everlast Train Advanced Wristwrap Heavy Bag Gloves (Sports)

These gloves are the Absolute Best!, Not only are they comfortable but very hardy. I use them for the heavy bag with or without wraps i feel no discomfort. My fellow students tried them on and wish they would have bought these instead of other products from Everlast or other brands. I just ordered the Everlast 12 oz. Mixed Martial Arts Sparring Gloves from Amazon also.
Mahalo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everlast heavy bag glove

First Im not a boxer in any way I bought the gloves b/c theres a punching bag in the house I moved into. I use I have used these gloves for two weeks now and I love them. Finally they are broken in and they are comfortable in the knuckles area and my wrists do not feel like they are "tweaked" after. Sometime I will use writs wraps with the gloves and I haven't had any issues with the gloves when I do it this way. The padding on the gloves works wonders. I have large hands with boney knuckles and before using the gloves I would use only wrist wraps. I would tear my knuckles to shreds after 20 min on the bag. Now I have no issues with my knuckles at all. I would recommend the gloves to anyone who uses a heavy punching bag for occasional/recreational use. I also like how easy it is to pick things up with the gloves

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gloves, May 3, 2012

This review is from: UFC Official Fight Glove (Sports)
Ok so I got the gloves to train with now I got a size to large and my knuckles got BUSTED UP! You have to put the gloves on in a certain way or you will get hurt they are really padded gloves but the padding is tough so if you get punched it will hurt. These gloves will protect your hands so much. If you get small it has a huge adjustability you will be able to make it bigger and smaller tighter looser. These gloves are perfect for fighting against a bag you have to find exactly what is the best placement for your hands but these are fantastic gloves to wear to fight and just to look at.

Just like it says, these are the real gloves they wear in the octagon. They're thick and heavy, not like the "training" gloves that they sell at most retail outlets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gloves,

I got these and UFC MMA gloves. These were large/XL and were a little bit smaller in size compared to the others. Still fit on my large hands with wrist wraps. I actually feel these are better than the UFC brand gloves. The padding is softer than UFC though. Keep that in mind.
